The paperback edition of New York Times bestselling author Allison Saft's romantic fantasy of manners.
- The hardcover of A Fragile Enchantment was an instant Indie and New York Times bestseller, and both a B&N Bookclub and Owlcrate pick. It continues to go back for printings, along with her backlist.
- BRIDGERTON-INSPIRED SLOW BURN ROMANCE!!!!!!! Kanthony shippers will swoon for this forbidden, grumpy/sunshine romance.
- Inspired by Regency-era England and civil unrest in Ireland, Saft delves into themes of class, privilege, and power, weaving in social commentary as captivatingly as Niamh's magical embroidery.
My two cents: This was an immersive, gripping read giving IMMACULATE vibes of the following: Narnia meets Frozen meets the Drew Barrymore movie Ever After meets Greenwild with a whole heaping ton of Bridgerton season 2. The PINING! The YEARNING! The LONGING and the SLOW BURN! Scrappy heroine Niamh (Ne-ve) can imbue her embroidery with magic and emotions (she makes a coat for Prince Kit, he puts it on and every single childhood memory he's ever had of feeling safe floods back into his brain) and is commissioned to do the garments for the Royal Wedding of Avaland. Niamh is from Machland, which has a complicated history with Avaland (see: England and Ireland) and she is immediately asked to join the resistance upon her arrival to Avaland. Niamh just wants to keep her head down and do her job and send money back to her struggling family, but she is pulled deeper into palace and political intrigue, and a forbidden relationship with the groom (neither Prince Kit not Princess Rosa want the wedding to go forward, it's a whole alliance thing.) All about finding yourself and following your heart, in a lush fantasy setting!
